3D Printers are Changing Classrooms

As technology is evolving, it is evident that it is changing the way that classrooms are run. New technology is coming out and making learning experiences better and more interesting. One of the new forms of technology that is making its way into the classroom is 3D printers. 3D printers are making activities for hands-on and making it easier for some students to understand concepts. These printers can be used in just about in subjects in school. The projects that you can do with them are endless.
The reviews from teachers and students about 3D printers are great. A lot of teachers love that they can offer new ways of learning to their students. The students say that it is fun to learn and it is helping them love certain subjects like math. Through 3D printers the students are now able to make real diagrams of building and see images in 3D. I could see a great benefit in this when you are working in geometry. In geometry the students would now be able to finally get to see the shapes that they are learning in real dimension. I think that this would help them learn the angles and properties better because they can touch them. Math is not the only area that is doing great with 3D printers though. You could use these in science to make cell models and even geography to make volcano models. The possibilities are endless.
There are a few learning curves that come along with these amazing machines. Teachers have stated that it does take a while to learn how to use the machine. Although all of the teachers that we talked about did mention that once they understood it that it was easy to run from there. Just like everything I believe it takes time to learn new things, but once you learn it you will be able to create far more than your expectations.
Overall, I  believe that 3D printers are doing a great job in transforming the classroom. The learning opportunities that the students are receiving are excellent. I think it is even better because a lot of students are enjoying the learning that comes from 3D printing.

  1. Love your reflection, Brianna! 3-D technology has also become a dominant presence in many classrooms. I think that this is helpful to the teachers and students both if they have access to the equipment. Teachers can use the printer to create hands-on lessons or even tools to help their students learn. One of the great things about this technology is that it can be used in all subjects whether it is math, art, or reading. On the other hand, students are exposed to other ways of learning and new experiences. They learn through the hands-on activities provided by their teachers, but if they are allowed the chance to use the printer, then their minds will grow even more!
